This weekend in Albuquerque, New Mexico there is a Catholic-Emergent Church conference which is looking at the church in contemporary culture.  Fr. Richard Rohr describes four characteristics of what he sees as the emerging church.  Follow the link below for a video from Rohr.

Here are Rohr’s four categories/aspects/characteristics:

“an honest, broad, ecumenical Jesus scholarship”

“a contemplative mind”

“a conclusion that many of the major concerns of Jesus are at major variance with what most of our churches have emphasized”

“new structures … new community mechanisms that can make this [new reformation] possible, because we don’t want to form a new denomination”

    Hi Pat,

The Em. Ch. Conf. in Albuquerque was a special event for everyone who went. I've been reading the various eyewitness reports and they encapsulate the feelings and observations of many. I went to the Post conf. session as well. These discussions should be available soon. I continue to process what was' telt' and 'felt'. 🙂

    Bye for now, Barb O.
