Another delivery is here from The Ooze full of books and a CD to check out and write reviews.

First up is a CD by Teel Montague Cook full of singer-songwriter stuff with a light and fun collection of songs. Teel sings and plays acoustic guitar on all songs, and it’s easy to see these songs playing well to a coffeehouse or college town pub crowd.

I especially enjoyed track #7, a haunting ballad titled “I Don’t Know Where You Are” and the gorgeous #9 track, “Who Loves Peter Pan” which, was the highlight of the album for me. Both songs put Teel’s voice and evocative lyrics at the front of the experience.

There was a decent variety of feels in these songs, and a mix of serious and lighthearted lyrics. I do wish that Teel hadn’t performed both lead and harmony vocals in all songs – her songs would benefit greatly from a harmony voice that’s not the same timbre as hers.

Overall though, I enjoyed the album and will play it again. If you are booking shows and need a good storyteller, contact Teel. And if you want a great Peter Pan song for a collection or a film, I think you’ll enjoy this one.
