I’m going to call in to one of my fun favorite podcasts, Delta Park Project, with a suggestion for a new playalong pop culture game. But before I do that, I thought it would be fun to post here and see if we can get a meme started.

Here’s the game. Pretend you’re at the movie rental store, browsing the shelf. You spot a movie and read the back cover. You spot an actor’s name and drop the movie, because you are pretty sure that you wouldn’t enjoy any movie that this person would be in.

Which five actors or actresses make you absolutely refuse to watch a movie that they’re in?

Mine:

  • Rob Schneider
  • Martin Short
  • The Rock
  • Meryl Streep
  • Jim Carrey

Your turn. All can play, but I want to hear from these five.

  1. Colleen Echohawk-Hayashi
  2. Rachelle Mee-Chapman
  3. Eliacin Rosario Cruz
  4. Ryan Beattie
  5. Todd Hiestand

Dude – Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind has Jim Carrey, and it's awesome. He's a serious actor in it. You should check it out.

True, that was a good exception to the rule. But his comedy stuff is horrific. I did also like Bruce Almighty though.

    What's your list?

Pat – sorry it took me a bit to see this one! Great, tough question. I put my slightly extended answer on my blog here: http://beattieblog.wordpress.com/2008/06/07/in-th

    But this is my list:

    Richard Gere
    Kate Hudson
    Josh Hartnett
Rob Schneider (gotta agree with you)
    Steven Segal

Alec Baldwin used to top this list until his redemption in 30 Rock and his last couple of flicks. His brother Stephen can have his spot. Rachelle, after watching a slew of depressing movies last year (e.g. Babel – ugh), I've just about vowed to ONLY watch movies with Will Farrell in them. Pat, confession of a fellow man: I liked "Devil Wears Prada" with Streep. 🙂

I'd like to hear who makes a movie a "must see" for you. Sean Penn, Will Smith and Bono are mine. Hey, "Rattle and Hum" was a big screen release! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9c4lLnY0rA

BD, I hope to God that on your 'exclusion' list for Kate Hudson is the movie Almost Famous. If you didn't like that one, we can never be friends again.

And … next time you give me crap for wearing a kilt, I'm just gonna respond "Devil Wears Prada" to you, and that should be that. Deal? 🙂

I'm embarrassed to say I've not seen "Almost Famous" maybe Kristi and I should watch it this weekend – then we'll see if we have a deal. Did you watch "Devil Wears Prada"? BTW, I'm just jealous because you pull off the kilt so well. Though if you ever wear it on your motorcycle, you'd better be going side-saddle. 🙂

BTW, here are my extended answers:

Richard Gere (First Knight: in what universe does Gere steal a woman from Sean Connery?)

Kate Hudson (I’m sure she’s a nice lady, But she can’t act=nails on a chalkboard)

Josh Hartnett (Two words: Pearl Harbor – I almost threw my shoe at the TV when I rented this horrible movie)

Rob Schneider (gotta agree with Pat here – no explanation needed)

Steven Segal (Sorry, but even if I do want to see a pudgy martial arts expert on film who could beat me up with their pinky, I’ll rent Bulletproof Monkwith Chow Yun-Fat)
