I realize that a while back I listed my evangelism reading list… but I didn’t finish, and it’s changed since then.
The active reading list:
Unlearning Church by Michael Slaughter – a gift from a friend who pastors a thriving church locally.
Divine Conspiracy by Dallas Willard – I’ve read the first third of this several times but never finished it; but I still would count it one of my favorite books. I’m planning to preach through Matthew next, and his treatment of the Sermon on the Mount is fantastic.
The New Testament and the People of God by N. T. Wright – absolutely fantastic work, excellent putting Jesus in his Jewish historical context. It’s SLOW reading for me though, it’s pretty thick chewy stuff. It’s the barleywine on my current list.
Devotions:
The Imitation of Christ by Thomas a Kempis, an edition that I found in the used bookstoe in Cd’A.
The Interior Castle by Teresa of Avila, from Collected Works vol. 2
Working the Angles by Eugene Peterson, from CBD’s pastoral library of Peterson’s stuff
I still have another read through Out of the Saltshaker to do, and I have Building a Contagious Church and the leaders’ guide or Becoming a Contagious Christian that I hope to build a small course out of.
