So, it’s been a while.
I’ve been thinking a lot lately in recent years but not showing my work, as Austin Kleon says so well. To that end, I’ve been looking at microblogging more, or doing a newsletter, or ol’ school blogging, etc.
And in the process of doing that, I discovered that I had a stash of a decade of blog posts from the olden days (like, 2004-2012 or thereabouts) that I thought had been lost. Even though I was a very different person then with a very different focus to today, I decided to pull together everything I’ve put out there, and work forward. Dust off the old ideas, figure out the new ones.

I’ll write more along the way, but I plan to keep four systems up and running.
- This site and blog, for fairly well thought out ideas and content of which I want to have long term ownership. This is the main site, powered by WordPress.
- a micro.blog, which sends stuff out to Bluesky and Mastodon, for short ideas and conversation; also to announce links back to this blog and to newsletters (note that I still have to figure out when I’m using micro.blog vs Bluesky and Mastodon directly).
- A newsletter, again dusting off a group of ideas I was publishing on Substack early in Covid days. This will be a weekly-ish summary of things I’ve written here, links I’ve found elsewhere, what I’m thinking about and learning, etc.
- A digital notes page, which is powered by Obsidian Publish. This is where I’m doing my active thinking and connecting, and won’t have very fully fleshed out info.. but stuff like book highlights and summaries.
So welcome back to the blog (to you, and to me).
