This year I have fallen madly in love with local songwriter and musician (genius) Damien Jurado.  His new album… oh my goodness, one of my favorites ever.  Damien’s a cult hero around Seattle for his wisdom and his gorgeous songs.

I just stumbled onto this video.  It comes from a series of videos of songs and Q&A from the Lawrence High School Classroom.  In this one, Damien talks about growing up as an Air Force kid, but then talks deeply about the importance of community and inspiration.  And what he says about the music community in Seattle at this very moment is absolutely true.  It’s an amazing time to be here, even for me, not a musician, but a photographer, with friends in bands in the scene.
