Reading Goals for 2012

2011 is done and 2012 is here!  It’s time to set goals for this year.

Continuing with the Goodreads Reading Challenge, I’ve set a goal of reading 50 books again in 2012 (I set that same goal in 2011 but read 77… but don’t want to lock myself in that high :-)).  You can update your Goodreads challenge goal anytime you want with no hassle. Well, unless I see that you’ve dropped your goal; I’ll probably hassle you a bit.

Another twist: The podcasters for Books on the Nightstand (recommended, though I prefer The Enthusiasticast) challenged their listeners to think about using the theme of ’12’ in their year’s reading goals.  I think that in ’11 they asked their listeners to add 11 books to their ’10 goal, but that seemed too much to do again in ’12, which is good – no way I’d want to aim there.

Given that, here are my three reading goals for this year:

  1. Read 50 books. (Follow along here)
  2. Read (or re-read) 12 books about Celtic spirituality and Celtic Christianity. (Follow along here)
  3. Read 12 books that are already on my nightstand to-read pile, or already on my Kindle. (Follow along here)

What are your goals for the year?  I’m curious to hear from you.  And come on over to the (FREE) Goodreads.com site and add me as a friend there so we can compare notes, and so I can hassle you if you drop your reading goal target.
