What would you do if you had a horrific car accident that left you mentally and physically impacted?
If you were the Blessing Man of Wapato, Washington, you would ask God’s blessing on every car you pass as you’re riding your bicycle around town.
Graham doesn’t want drivers to go through what he did about 42 years ago. He doesn’t want their cars to roll in an accident that crushes the roof until it’s level with the hood. He doesn’t want them to awake from a three-and-a-half month coma with a brain stem injury, needing to relearn how to walk and talk.
“I hope they don’t ever get in any car wrecks because I know that being handicapped physically and mentally will change your life,” he says.
So as the cars and trucks and sirens scream by, he lifts his praying hands and asks for their safe passage.
“I really get into it,” he says. “A lot of them don’t know they’re getting blessed, but that’s OK.”
Kinda makes you wonder, doesn’t it? In what ways are you hurting, but can turn that damage into an invitation to bless others? Could your marriage struggles give other couples hope? Could your substance addiction be turned into recovery counseling? Could your despair be turned to give another hope?
