Wayne at the Everett Vineyard invited me to come up this past Sunday and speak to the church as he would be out of town for part of the week before. EV planted as a church not too long ago, and Wayne is a great guy that I love to hang out with, so I was happy to accept the invitation.

I spoke on the image of John being the apostle who listened to the very heartbeat of God, and also on some of the ways that, having failed as a church planter (I’m intentionally being provocative, because I think our time as a church was really productive), I’ve learned and grown.  I only used inappropriate language once during the whole sermon, so things could have been worse.

I enjoyed meeting the crew there – good folks, they showed up way early and stayed waaaaay late, until Wayne had to kick them out of the building (a sign of a healthy church).  And Kaileigh had a blast with the other kids as well.

If you’re up in the Everett area and want to be with a community who’s pursing God’s kingdom, go see the crew at  Everett Vineyard.
