Keynote speaker in the morning: Shawn Bolz

Much time this morning working to reconcile First Nations peoples and the colonists; recognizing and honoring the ministry of women in the church and family (via Paula Sanford, who co-led with John in this ministry for 30 years, far before it was popular for the woman to co-teach and co-lead).

Forum topic: What God’s doing in the prophetic ministry in days coming

Stacey Campbell (New Life Churchj @ Kelowna BC)
“The Lord has clearly spoken to me that the next move of God will not take place in the church, but only when the church goes out into the streets.”

Shawn Bolz
We spoke yesterday about the 7 spheres of influence. But in the 70s, following the Jesus people movement, the mistake we made was we didn’t commission people to be sent into their place of ministry when it was to serve in the air force, or the grocery store. We must now commission people to serve in their sphere of influence, especially in cultural influence, entertainment ministry. You must commission your children and your young leaders to go into the schools and into Hollywood and into the justice systems as their place of ministry. Send the prophets out into all places where God gets glory (which is not just within the walls of the church). Interesting note encouraging women to influence: Twice in Scripture a woman advocating to the king was offered up to half the kingdom. First, Esther. Second, Herodias. Power and influence must be purified.

Purifying the prophetic: Todays’ religion is not Christianity. It is syncretistic baalism (twist the right knobs and say the right things and Baal will guarantee you children and prosperity. health, wealth and wisdom.). Mystical experiences, prophetic revelation are wonderful things, unless they take our attention away from the cross of Christ and the blood shed. The danger of prophetic conferences is that your attention is drawn away from the cross to the visions we’re telling you. being prophetic is NOT about revelation; it is about rebuilding covenant; accomplishing the purposes of God. Revelation is simply access points that anybody here has access to as well. The role of the prophetic is proclaiming the purposes of God in today’s world. “Reading peoples’ mail” isn’t the prophetic – it doesn’t make you more prophetic; it makes you more compassionate and human. It’s a tool for ministering to people. Our calling is not to search the hearts of men, but to search the heart of God. Rev 19:10 – we search the mind and heart of Jesus; we don’t pursue experiences., SO two adjustments: 1) Forsake seeking the experiences and seek the simplicity of relationship with christ; 2) Wed the pastor’s heart with the heart of the prophet (the sheep smell, and the shepherd does as well)

Revelation should: prove that GOD exists (not prove that YOU exist or are gifted). The prophets focused on 4 issues regarding god’s hart to his people. 1) Economic 2) Political 3) Religious 4) War, and he uses creation to validate various things that are unbelievable. God uses signs and wonders in the created world to bring attention to things that are not naturally believable. The validation process is more complex/complete the more difficult to believe that the primary prophecy is. Coming days for prophetic ministry: (1)Economic – see Daniel and Joseph. There’s an intermingling of divine logic and revelation. Must be able to predict with accuracy downturns and upturn trends. God will raise up prophetic people who are accurate at economic prediction as a validator of message; that doesn’t exist now. (2)Political – again see daniel and Joseph. See how these two guys delivered prophetic messages to kings; they were geniuses in recognizing how political powers interplayed. Look beyond the issues of today to the issues of tomorrow and be able to proclaim the issues of tomorrow. (4)War – “if you do this, this will create a war; this will happen”. But also be able to say, “this IS the will of God; go to war. Be able to understand pre-emptive revelation to resolve conflict. (3)Religion – the power of God is going to be exposed and God will strip us of all those things that we take on to appear spiritual but are not reality; He will strip us naked of those things. Persecution removes your reputation. Only when your reputaiton is gone do you realize how heavy it was.

Bob Jones
There’s a divine calling that is greater than apostle and prophet. THat call is “friend of God”. If I have that friendship, reputation doesn’t matter. I don’t have to do anything. I just show up on time and my friend will tell me where we’re going. My only desire is that when I go home, I haven’t violated that friendship. Next Tuesday is the true Pentecost; watch what the Lord shows you that day, write it down. Isa 22:22, 1 Cor 10:2, 2 Cor 3:14 – Do not let past persecution crush your current thoughts. Remember your past but do not be jailed by it. Your past got you to where you are today.
