John Paul Jackson

Another panel discussion. In this one we hear that John Paul Jackson has a group that’s equipping teams of people who understand how to interpret dreams and evangelize prophetically. They’ve been going to local bookstores and asking people if they’ve been having dreams lately – yeah? do you know what they mean? no? want some help? The VP of B. Dalton Bookstores has now asked these teams to go into every one of their bookstores.

His teams also are going into new age fairs (a repeated theme) with booths that say things like:

  • Free Encouraging Words
  • Free Spiritual Readings (using a different term than “prophetic words”; there was a followup question afterward that clarified the distinction between occultic readings and prophetic work.)
  • Free Dream Interpretation

They’re finding regularly that they have 20-30 people in line for each. (“Imagine the despair! You’re 30 people deep in a line to hear an encouraging word?!?”).

The sandwich board signs guys with the “God hates gays” and “You deserve hell” messages – how many are in line behind them?

They’re now going to Haunted Happenings in Salem, Mass; Burning Man.

Our fear is that people can get “slimed” in dark places, so we don’t go where evil is. But greater is he who is in me… You empower what you fear. Fear is the belief that something bad that isn’t visible is about to happen. Faith is the belief that something good that isn’t visible is about to happen. You have to be trained, faithful for this. You can’t invite evil in. But you can be prepared and see light overcome darkness.

Last point: learning from quantum physics… here he sounds like Pagitt 😉 relationships as fundamental physical building blocks; what if our models of church actually preclude the kigndom from occurring? what if hierarchical models are not just inefficient but wrong?… ORBITAL MODELS instead of hierarchy. ORBITAL around favor, anointing, presence. (Pat’s note: see also centered sets).

Incarnational/missional/prophetic/evangelism..

Wow. That hit me as a statement of profound truth. That might be the most insightful and important thing I read today.

I agree – it’s a great statement. It’s even more powerful in the context in which JPJ spoke it – we don’t have to be afraid of ministering God’s love in dark places.

Sounds like Patricia King’s new book, The Light Belongs in the Darkness!
