In our church’s study through the book of Nehemiah, we are looking for local and global ways in which to practice compassion.

You might appreciate some of these ideas, given in no particular order.

Local:
Sponsor Holly Klima’s 3-day, 60-mile walk to raise money for breast cancer education and research.

– Participate in our commitment to help the Guthrie Girls (local story link here, free registration required)

– Support the Mt. Si Helping Hands food bank, which gives food resources to people in the Snoqualmie valley.

– Watch for the Sudan slideshow we will be sponsoring in June

Global:
– Participate in the Jubilee USA campaign to forgive third-world debt. (Good article on U2’s Bono lobbying for this effort via USAToday here.

– Support Christian relief & development organizations like World Vision or World Relief.

– Sponsor a child through Compassion International to provide food, education and medicine to children whose families cannot provide these things

– Educate yourself about the genocide ongoing in the Darfur region of the Sudan, and influence your legislators to Act!.

Above all: Work life by life with those you have relationship with in order to demonstrate the abundant love of God in Christ Jesus.
