Gordon Fee is a wonderful teacher. Not only his content (which is fantastic), but his communication skills are excellent. This man is truly a passionate, deeply spiritual, deeply learned Man Of God.
I feel a deep stirring within me regarding recovery ministry. The workshop yesterday was fantastic for a variety of reasons, Great teaching, great material that feels like “us”. God, send workers for the harvest.
I had a wonderful conversation with several of my friends last night regarding the emerging church. They ministered in the spirit of Proverbs 27:6 to me 😉 (or at least my ideas, not necessarily me). Be careful what questions you ask; you may receive answers.
Ran into Buck Naked Eric Sandras last night (clothed). It was hard to spot him though – there’s about 257 guys with shaved heads and fu-mancu trims. once again, I’m a generation behind what’s hip and cool. Sounds like by God’s grace the message of authenticity in faith is catching hold; Eric’s book is doing well. Loved the rejected title for his 2nd book, but for the sake of trademarks I cannot share it right now. Ask him as you see him on his Book Tour of Global Domination!
I’m most enjoying the relationship-building here. Spent time in talk with Papa Ed from Seattle Vineyard, found Dave & Linda Pardee (Monroe Vineyard) and Steve & Layne Fish (Vancouver Vineyard) before the morning session, having a great chat with Rick & Chris McDaniel (Olympia Vineyard, formerly our church plant coaches, before we were handed off to Rich & Rose Swetman). I really love these people.
Spending a lot of time with, sitting next to Steve Porter (Sweet Pea!!). Church planter affinity
I ministered in prayer to a young man called to plant in urban Louisiana. After communicating a few thoughts that I sensed the Lord speaking to him, God told me it was time to shut up and let him listen to Him :-).
I was hoping to vblog a bit, but don’t have the time to figure out the workflow for video images. instead you get these text images and rambling notes. sometimes spell-checked rambles. I’d REALLY like to have a DSLR camera to give much better quality pictures live, but the camera phone will have to do. Hopefully the labels I’m putting on them will help you decipher which fuzzy dark image is who.
Columbus Vineyard IS in fact entering the wifi era; the cafe inside the building has a short 802.11b (11mbps) network. Just not reach into the main sanctuary area.
Last night leaving I walked through a hallway out to the cafe and passed a shopping cart full of food for the benev olence ministry. I resisted the temptation (barely) to grab one of the boxes of Lucky Charms from the cart.
Successfully resisted the temptation also to tell Steve Nicholson that he was in my dreams the night before. Figure that’s a good thing to resist. The last time I talked with Steve was at an ELI conference in which I told him he ruined my life; I was called to church plant when watching a VLI video on planting that he was teaching. I meant it as funny; he didn’t take it that way. He had one of those “ohhhhhhhkayyyyyyy….” reactions (which made it funnier to me).
I wish to state for the record (and for my roomies who are reading the blog) that I’m really blessed and encouraged to be here; even if I do have disconnects and complaints and whininess in the midst of the blessing :-).
It’s good to be a grape. (an emerging grape perhaps, but a grape).
