Tonight we had about 20 people from the church over for dinner. In our ongoing process of growing as a community (and copying everything from Pagitt‘s book that sounds cool ;-)), we started a monthly potluck dinner. Shannon and I hosted; I made enchiladas and ice cream and we set the place up for as much seating as posdsible.
It was fun hearing the conversation flowing back and forth, lots of noise (9 kids present having plenty of fun), and nobody made anybody cry that I am aware of.
Plus, as a special bonus, somebody reminded us that the clocks move ahead tonight, which I had no idea about. Phew.
A week from tomorrow we have another leaders meeting; I’ll ask our leaders how they think things went and what we can finetune. Currrently we’re doing this monthly on Sat nights from 5ish to 9ish (though everybody left by 8 tonight). It’d be fun to get together for dinner more frequently but I also don’t want people to get overbooked with “church stuff” so they don’t have lives outside the church gatherings.
But tonight sure was fun.
