★ NPR interview on Darfur

On the way to go see the movie Robots with Kaileigh and another family from church, I caught just a few minutes of an article last night on the local NPR radio affiiliate. Here’s the link, an interview with John Prendergast, who is Special Adviser to the President of the International Crisis Group.

I was very impressed with the clarity of description of the conflict – what’s happening and why. Very worthwhile to listen to if you want to understand this genocide better. Its main thrust is a description of the international politics around the genocide.

After hearing that one for background, then go visit the another excellent (though extremely disturbing) interview is this one. This one is with former Marine Capt. Brian Steidle who has been in the Dafur region of Western Sudan monitoring the humanitarian crisis there for the African Union. It’s an arresting story.

Or better yet, listen to them in the other order to see what’s happening, first, and what the international community is/isn’t doing, second.
