We’ve been spending our last week trying to recover. Shannon and Kaileigh had already purchased airplane tickets to go visit the grandparents a month or two back, so after arriving home on Tuesday, they went to the airport again Friday for another trip to Billings. I dropped them off at the airport and kept driving, making a hotel reservation for a night in Ocean Shores on the western Washington coast. (You drive through Aberdeen, hometown of the prophetic voice of my generation, on the way out).
I’ve spent the last day walking on the beach, taking photos of the sunset, sleeping and exploring the little town. I’ve also been listening to some of my CDs from the Emergent Convention, stuff I haven’t gotten to yet. Actually I’ve been hearing a lot of the stuff from Doug Pagitt‘s critical concerns course before the EC began, speaking about being a missional community.
Meanwhile, I’m also reading a couple of books I just picked up at Borders on the way down: Jim Wallis’ book God’s Politics, and a book called The Ignatian Workout, sort of an Ignatian Exercises for Youth Groups/20s Groups I guess.
Main thing is I’m trying to pray, rest, not think too much, and deal with my stuff.
