An estimated 3,000 died last year, and the homeless coalition expects that figure to rise this year. We found out this weekend that a friend of the family has been staying in homeless shelters, so she’ll be coming tomorrow to hang out for a while. Her family will celebrate Christmas at our house. I don’t know why it seems this way, but doesn’t this problem always get worse in the Christmas season? I know that the weather is a part of it, but it seems to me that there are more people out of work and about to lose homes, apartments, families, etc this time of the year.
“If anyone has enough money to live well, and sees a brother or sister in need and refuses to help—how can God’s love be in that person?
Dear children, let us stop just saying we love each other; let us really show it by our actions.” – 1 John 3:17-18, NLT
