“Like an architect designing a great cathedral, when you plant a tree you do so in the knowledge that you won’t live to see it grow to full height.”
Tom Wright, Matthew for Everyone Part 1, commenting on Matt 13:10-17

On Tall Skinny Kiwi’s epic blog entry entitled “When We Stop Emerging”, I commented like so:

“My daughter and her peers will look at us as hopelessly out of date, invent new forms of worship and discussion and expression, and they will contextualize the Gospel for their friends.”

I pray that our church outlives me, and that its peak is long past my day.
