If you are an avid reader and want an alternative to the big stores, may I suggest that you give Bean Books a chance? I haven’t met Bill Bean before and have no financial interest in his business, but I really like my experience with him so far.
Here’s now the process works: Go visit Bean Books’ website, then hit the Contact page to get the order email address and give them author/title/ISBN of the stuff you want. Bill will check his source(s?) for availability and pricing and email you back a quote. You reply back to clarify/change/etc, then he sends you the books and an invoice. You write a check and mail it back to him.
I recently placed an order with bill simply by finding the author/title/ISBN from the books I wanted at Amazon, then cut n pasting that info into an email to Bill, clarifying a choice between hardcover and softcover, deciding to wait on one book, and Bill had the books shipped out USPS the next day. The total cost was very competitive with what Amazon would have charged me, and shipping cost was less than I normally pay.
This is the 2nd time I have used Bean Books, and I’ll continue to give them business as much as possible.
