My hopes to get a bit more formal education have been dashed on the rocks, at least for now. At current tuition rates, Fuller NW and Mars Hill Grad School would both run right at $36k for an M. Div.
Holy *()#!@&)*(#@()*!. I’m shocked. My friend who got his M. Div. at Trinity is shocked.
$36k.
I’m going to do a bit more work on my own, and then try to decide if this is worth pursuing as a degree program. eventaully, it is – but probably when the church can sponsor me in it, and not my wife :-).
My friend suggests that I read Grudem’s Systematic Theology, study some church history, begin to learn New Testament Greek and translate a book (Colossians), study exegesis, then repeat.
I’ve got an email in to the good folks at Bean Books (look up what you want on Amazon, send him the link, support a good family business :-)) – It looks like I’ll be going this route, at least for a while. Which is OK by me.
