★ Praying the Hours

One of the things I’m continually trying to get my brain around is how I can incorporate the best of the ancient faith with my current walk – and also, what I can teach in our church as well. It’s why we spend time on lectio divina a few weeks back.

When I was going through all my old plugged up comments (oops), I was responding to a comment from eric, which reminded me to place on my to-do list that I need to read more about praying the hours.

There’s a well-done article in Christianity Today here entitled Learning the Ancient Rhythms of Prayer, and a sidebar to the article here.

This is good stuff worth thinking about, and also about how we can make regular corporate prayer occur in our lives and offer it in the church as well (this is a particularly interesting challenge for us, as we’re still pretty geographically scattered).

Anyway… enjoy the links. Mostly I’m writing this to see if you have experience with the daily office, or suggestions – and to capture these two links for myself.
