★ Family Update

We’ve had a bunch of family trauma recently. It seems wild to think about, but in the last two weeks:

My brother’s son was born (Christopher William), and he has a bacterial infection that’s keeping him in the hospital for 7 days. We get to go see him tomorrow!

Shannon’s father, who’s been battling cancer for years and who was diagnosed as terminal last fall, has been having double vision recently. An MRI yesterday turned up a tumor in his brain a bit smaller than a golf ball.

My grandmother appears to have more health challenges, and my grandfather who is now 89 is getting weaker and more confused by the day it seems.

It’s very strange. There’s been a lot of death around us in the last 6 months. It fels like a season of death, which isn’t the best thing to put it mildly. Others in my circle have mentioned the same thing.

One of my favorite bloggers, Jen Lemen, wrote a stunning piece of art in her blog today about touching the life of one who is at death’s door. Do yourself the honor of spending 10, 15 minutes in a quiet place absorbing what Jen has to say today.

++ Lord, show me where You are in these experiences, these challenges. Help us be your hands and feet and heart in this time. ++

On the positive side, Kaileigh is happy and healthy. She’s growing like a weed. She can count to 7 now, forget 8 and 9, and get 10. She sings the ABC song, and part of it’s recognizable (Q R S is her favorite part). She sings twinkle twinkle little star, and you are my sunshine, and if you’re happy and you know it…. It’s truly amazing to see her grow. Truly amazing.
