I’m reading Romans this morning in The Message.

From 2:3-4 there’s this wonderful translation:

God is kind, but he’s not soft. In kindness he takes us firmly by the hand and leads us into a radical life-change.

Radical life-change. What a powerful update of the term “repentance”.

Jesus’ message, then, was “Radically change your life and believe the Message! God’s Kingdom is nearby, among you, at your fingertips!”

Peterson, in fact, translates Mark 1:15 as something very similar: “Time’s up! God’s kingdom is here. Change your life and believe the Message.”

++Lord, lead me into radical life-change for the sake of Your name, and for the sake of my abundant life in you!++
