Nephew stories

My nephew Keenan is 5, about to turn 6. He has started wresling this year. His dad, my brother Kyle, is one of the coaches. Kyle was a very good wrestler in his day, he went to the state tournament three of four years (if I remember right) and placed high twice. Kyle’s having a blast watching Keenan try to figure out how it all works for him.

A couple of weeks ago I got these two stories from Kyle:

Keenan had his first practice match today. The other kid was a year older and had wrestled last year, so he had experience on Keenan and was working him over. He had Keenan on his back.

I heard Keenan say something to the kid, but didn’t catch it. Then he said it again, this time I caught it.

“Hey – kid! Didn’t you hear me? There’s a beatiful woman over by the wall! Look!”

Coach Kyle nearly lost it laughing so hard.

Later in the match, Kyle (who’s coaching both Keenan and the other kid) is doing his part to encourage the other guy for doing well. Way to go, stay aggressive, etc.

Keenan loooks ovver at him and yells,

“Hey! Whose side are you on, anyway?”

Today, I get this classic one. Yesterday was Keenan’s first tournament. During one match, the other coach is yelling instructions to Keenan’s opponent. Apparently Keenan’s having a hard time concentrating, because he looks at the other coach and yells at him:

“SIIILEEENNCEEE!!”

I guess all 3 coaches doubled over laughing.

That’s my nephew Keenan.
