This morning’s CDP (link from amazon, buy it from Bill Bean):
“The love of Christ is not a different love from the eternal fire in the heart of God or that which flows between the three persons of the Trinity. We are loved passionately by God. […]” – Ralph Wouldham
Triggers a reminder of this:
“I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.” – John 17:26 NIV
Today it strikes me that the love I have for my wife, for my across-the-street neighbor, and for George Bush and/or Howard Dean (or whoever) is of the same exact character and nature as the love that the Trinity has within itself. Sure, my form of love isn’t complete, it’s damaged and wounded and all wobbly if you were to put it in a big mass and roll it around on the floor, but still – it’s not different from the trinity’s love, it’s just more… in process of being completed?
And it’s in the process of being completed, fleshed out so to speak, when I allow Christ to live more fully within me, when I allow His love to shine out of me.
Help me, Lord.
