I was able to attend the Roadshow last night. I had a good time, and a few things that happened were particularly sticking in my brain.

First, if you don’t have any context for this note, please go to Justin Baeder’s blog and check out his excellent notes.

The best part of the evening for me was that I saw way more people who I already knew than I expected to. Wayne and Eric; Ed, Rachelle, Bill, and the whole gang from Seattle Vineyard. I met good folks too – friends of Wayne, then a guy who’s from Olympia and is doing a documentary film on emerging churches and was up checking out Q and decided to stick around.

One thing Justin missed in his notes, which I found to be the best part of the evening, was this observation from Todd Hunter, in his closing remarks:

How many people would you have to ask “What do you think of when you consider evangelical Christians?”, before you found one who thinks of them (us) as good listeners?.

You’d likely have to wait a long, long time. Can we – can I – listen well as a ministry to my friends? Who was it who said that our most valuable assets in this society are time, and attention?
