In our plant, we’re discussing our way through Matthew this year. Instead of reading the text, We’re watching the Visual Bible’s representation of Matthew, which is actually pretty cool. I love the fact that Jesus actually has a sense of humor, and isn’t some mystical space cadet.
But more and more, I think that when Mel’s done with The Passion, I’d love to see somebody film an adaptation from The Message. That’d be so awesome!!!
I also like this visual representation because the folks who wrote the screenplay have some obvious interpretation that they’re doing; it’s a great reminder to us that we ALL have our own grids through which we view Scripture, but sometimes when it’s visually represented it’s easier to notice.
