This is birthday weekend in our church. Two of our folks had birthdays, and we had two birthday parties. It was really cool to see how many people showed up. At the party we had on Friday night we celebrated one of our guys’ 51st birthday. Some of our folks drive from their home an hour away, and one of our 21-year-olds came to visit for a while also before she went out dancing with friends. It was cool to see that cross-generational joy :-).

Then, today, we had a party for the wife of our worship leader. Her family came and her in-laws came, and we had lasagna and cake and played pool, and watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang when the kids were around, and football when the kids weren’t.

It was fun seeing friendships across generations, and people just enjoying each others’ company. I think we’re growing together, which is a nice feeling!
